Meg Meldrum’s photos have been some of my favourites for a while now.
Being the same age as me (seventeen) it kind of makes me feel guilty for not trying harder with my own photography because hers all looks so great.
Not only is she incredibly talented, but she is also so lovely and
even took time out of her day to answer some quick questions..

How did you get into photography?
I can’t pin point the exact moment I decided it was something I really wanted to pursue. I’ve always been really interested in fashion and loved the pictures in magazines and on blogs. I suppose my own picture taking evolved out of restlessness… summer boredom and having my beautiful friends willing to have their picture taken.

Do you have any favorite photo shooting scenarios?

Every time I shoot I change my mind, I’m so indecisive! I love shooting with my friends so much – but there is something really rewarding about photographing strangers, or people you haven’t met before.
Each shoot is a unique experience and that’s what makes it so exciting! I love choosing a place, having a pile of clothes to play with then adventuring picture taking along the way – but I equally love blasting music and taking pictures against my bedroom wall.

Have any funny stories from shooting?

Ah there are always funny moments; being caught in the rain, having my camera break, visits from surprise spiders, animal interruptions, wardrobe malfunctions, falls, to name a few! Shoots aren’t too serious – there is usually lots of talking and laughing between shots.

The best part about being a photographer?
I don’t think I can put it into words I’m just going to sound silly! I just really love it. I love the process, shooting, editing, and the outcome. There is something really satisfying about creating capturing a moment – nothing makes me happier.
Who inspires you the most?
My beautiful friends – they’re my muses! And of course I’m really inspired by Fashion culture – I love models, designers, magazines, blogs and I am constantly inspired by the work of other amazing photographers.

What would you like to do once you finish school?
Ooh I definitely want to feed my wanderlust – I’m planning to get a world ticket and travel with a friend. After that I’m planning to put all my heart into pursuing fashion photography.
What to you makes a beautiful photo?
I think a beautiful photo holds the ability to make the person viewing it feel something. That sounds strange! I just mean that someone should be able to feel happy, or nostalgic, sad or anything when they look at a photograph. I think a beautiful photograph also relies on a connection between model and a photographer. I can only hope one day that i’ll be able to create beautiful photographs like the ones i’m describing.
