Welcoming in Spring whole heartedly (I mean, seriously, who even likes Winter anyway?) with some trends to embrace as the temperature rises. I’m a big fan of the effortless outfit because I’m lazy like that, so anything easy to throw on last minute is a winner in my book, and all of these styles are just that. Bellbottom pants, Ray-ban round sunglasses, white and plaid pleated skirts and chunky layered bohemian necklaces are just some of the trends that have been appearing all over my instagram/pinterest/tumblr feeds lately that have caught my eye. I’m not really big on following trends, but it doesn’t take me long to start liking something when you’re constantly exposed to it, so this might be why the plaid skirt has landed on my radar long after the 2013 ‘punk’ themed Met Gala. Either way, here are some pieces that will look great in your wardrobe.
I know what you’re thinking, I’ve gone full blown bohemian. These pants have made it in and out of my account on many different occasions but I have yet to commit to the purchase. Although I love them, I don’t think I’d be brave enough to wear them in public just yet – this town’s uniform is stripe top, black leather look pants and nike roshes.. If I lived by the beach these would be my go-to comfy pant. They’re going on my buy-if-I-move-to-Melbourne-for-Summer list for sure.
Is it a bit of a cop out that I just posted my own pair of these? These sunglasses are the perfect pair of stylish/hippie/timeless glasses that I don’t see ever going out of style. Considering they’ve been popular for decades, they’re probably one of the only fail sale investments fashion wise. Paired with a basic white tee and denim shorts, they’re an accessory that makes any look effortlessly cool.
White Tennis Skirt
This look is sooo old school but it’s been one that has come up on my tumblr feed for months now. Although you might feel like a tennis player, it’s such a versatile piece for the warmer months and is a good one for people (like me) that wear too much black. So easy to just chuck on with a crop top and run out the door if you’re in a hurry. Also a great white bottom if you’re going for an all white look but don’t want to commit to pants; they’re an easy substitute since I think finding a good white pant is hard without making you look bigger/needing white underwear.
Plaid Pleated Skirt
Plaids not the obvious choice for the warmer months, however I don’t think wardrobes should be limited to seasons. It’s kind of like wearing dark plum lipstick in Spring, who says we shouldn’t? It took me a long time to get on the punk plaid print trend but I think the pleated mini is a good way to go without feeling gothic. Going along with the 90’s vibe that has been popping up everywhere, worn with a basic tee and a choker and you’re good to go. The kind of edgy I think everyone needs to try out.
Bohemian Layered Necklaces
This one is a no brainer for me, because it’s so easy to style (with everything!) and suits anyone. Moving on from the layered necklaces scene, bohemian coin necklaces and other silver pieces are a great way to dress up a basic outfit. Heat basically means no effort for me, so jewellery is where it’s at. Also, I got one of these necklaces off ebay for $3 so it doesn’t have to break the bank either – win win.
