Confession: my skin care regime was non-existent while I was travelling. Between moving cities every few days, long days exploring and late nights partying, completing my skin routine was the last thing on my mind. This was of course until I made it to Norway when my skin decided to throw a fit. I don’t have particularly bad skin at all and it was a total shock. It was this point onwards that I made it a priority since I wanted to continue not wearing make up 80% of the time.
Most of these I took with me and some I’ve discovered since coming home and I recommend them all 100%. Here’s how I worked them in to my routine without it becoming to taxing at the end of the day…
Washing, it’s my number one for a reason.
If I do one thing I always make sure to wash my face at the end of the day. It’s an essential way to get off the days mix of sweat, make up and pollution. I took this Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser with me everywhere and I really liked it because it’s a type of formula you know isn’t going to leak through your stuff – a travelling must. It can be a little drying so I try to moisturise afterwards. Since I’ve come home I’ve been trying to switch my skin care to natural alternatives and these products from Sukin have been doing the trick, especially when I want to deep cleanse my skin after make up.

Skincare comes next.
All these products I use on odd occasions when I need a little something extra. When I got to Norway my family friend gave me this Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque to try. Now, I swear by it if you need to give your skin a little TLC; especially if you’re in the middle of breaking out like I was. I also swear by Origins Super Spot Remover I grabbed from Mecca, I’ve been using it for years. Usually I will apply it on any bad spots at night and they’re gone by the morning. I grabbed this mini Bioderma Micellar sample since I didn’t want to risk a big bottle going all through my bags. If my skin is particularly bad I use this on a cotton pad to quickly clean my skin before make up in the morning. I also use Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery for some heavy-duty sun protection in the harsh NZ sun – it’s SPF 50 and is ridiculously light weight. I seriously wish I had a full sample of this now!

Protection is a must, always.
These three have been my staples while travelling and, along with a face wash, they’re my go-to products everyday. I use Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF 30+ sunscreen on my face EVERYDAY. It glides on easily and does the trick. Like I said, I try to reach for natural products first and Simple is a long time love of mine. I lather my dry face with the Face Moisturiser everyday and if I’m being lazy (or hung over), I’ll use the Facial Wipes to cleanse at night.
