The days here are slowly becoming cooler, the rain is settling in more frequently and I find myself rugged up in front of the TV often. I feel like I wait the entire year to enjoy the Summer, only to enjoy once it ends. As the seasons change, I like to plan what to buy next, I mean what girl doesn’t? To be honest I need to completely clear out my wardrobe and start again, as well as get an actual job to fund my all too expensive shopping hobby. However, planning ahead is a really great way to make sure that if you do go on a shopping spree that it actually works together and you don’t end up with far too many unnecessary purchases and that awful guilty feeling in the pit of your stomach. This time round I’m focusing on the textures and details that set pieces apart and although these aren’t necessarily ground breaking, they’ll be what I’m investing in the coming season…
Ribbed anything is a big tick in my book, there’s nothing more 90’s classic than that and it can make even the most basic pieces look more interesting. Texture is a great way to create difference in a monochromatic outfit and I’m a huge fan of ribbed on anything from singlets to chunky knits. My favourite way to style it? All white outfit with a huge ribbed knit over silky trousers, so comfy/chic!
Fuzzy, usually mohair, coats have been something I’ve had my eye actually since last Winter. It’s kind of nice to be in NZ which is so far behind the rest of the world in fashion because it’s easy to source classic pieces like this long before the colder months hit here. Grey is the most classic colour to wear in Winter without opting for the the usual black, but I think subtle camel and beige works just as great with this finish too. Again – texture is everything, especially when layering.
Lace up heels have been floating around for quite a while now although I’m really loving the more boot like heel. Jeffrey Campbell does some great lace up heeled boots and I just see this look keep popping up all over my Instagram feed. So easily paired with an evening dress or even a pair of jeans. I love a good multi purpose but not boring heel and this is just that!
