As I’ve mentioned in my favourites video, I have to really love a perfume to wear it. I’m really sensitive to smells so if I’m wearing one I don’t like it can even make me feel sick. So today I’m bringing to you four of my favourite all-time perfumes to wear, from day to night.
These are the only ones I wear currently and I can promise you I’ve been complimented when I’ve worn every one of them (not together, duh). Who doesn’t love the idea of someone knowing you by your scent? Smells trigger such vivid memories for me – from particular friends, to nights out. All of these bring back the best times in my life, that’s why I think perfumes are a must for everyone.
Gypsy Water by Byredo
This has to be my all time favourite perfume. I literally talked about buying it for 2 years before I friend Sam bought me it for my birthday. I’ve taken it everywhere with me since – even throughout Europe backpacking. It’s described as “a woody sent laced with bursts of citrus, incense, pine, vanilla and orris” and I feel like this is a more mature, not so sweet scent. A perfect everyday perfume to wear in my opinion – I’m obsessed with it.
Terre De Lumiere by L’Occitane
I actually had no idea that L’Occitane made perfumes so I was pleasantly surprised to smell this one. It’s described as “an unexpected fusion of mesmerising gourmand notes and aromatic freshness.” I love wearing this sweeter scent during the day too and it lasts forever on the skin.
Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone
Made to smell of Ambrette Seeds, Sea Salt and Sage (surprise) this scent is definitely a more mature one. I think this is perfect for dinners or going out because it lasts all night but isn’t too overpowering or sweet. I love that I have the smaller bottle too because it’s perfect for travelling and it’s sturdy so you don’t have to worry about it leaking.
Black Opium by YSL
I’d hate to think of how many times I would drag my Mum through to airport to find the tester of this to spray. It must have worked though because she bought me this for Christmas! Seriously though, this is another of my all time favourite perfumes. It’s sweet with black coffee accord, orange blossom, cedar wood and patchouli. I love wearing this scent out at night because it’s kind of seductive. Love, love, love it.
That wraps up my favourite perfumes. Actually, I have a few more but they’ve been packed away in all my gear from home so maybe I’ll have to do another one of these when I finally get them back in my life. I think perfumes in general are such an affordable luxury and make the best presents for people. I love the idea of having your own personal signature scent that people know you by.
