I’ve been a fan of ghd for years – I even still own and use my first pair that I bought a whole 12 years ago! They’re a staple in my hair routine, whether it be for curling, straightening or just to prep my hair. I mentioned in my previous Youtube video that I loved the ghd curler, so I couldn’t wait to try out the new ghd Gold Styler.
I decided to put together some of my go-to 5 minute hair styles using the new ghd Gold Styler. I was curious to know if they were worth the hype, and *spoiler alert* they totally are! They are so smooth to run through your hair and they don’t grip when you use them for curling. These really are the ultimate hair styling tool if you can’t afford separate curler/straighteners.
The Classic Straight Hair
This doesn’t take much explanation, but straight hair will always be a classic. It’s the first step to creating a heap of hairstyles so I thought I’d start off easy. I straightened my hair in under 5 minutes which is impressive with my crazy natural hair. I did make sure to leave a little texture for the next hairstyles too. Chuck a beret on and you’re ready to head out the door.

The Sophisticated Ponytail
This hairstyle is a classic of mine that I love to do when I’m in a hurry but want to look put together. After straightening your hair (leave a bit of texture so it’s not completely straight), pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie. Next, take a section from the bottom of your hair, wrap around the hair tie to conceal and secure with bobby pins.
Leaving a little natural texture makes it easier to get the hair to hold for the entire night. You can also add a little hairspray if you’re struggling to get it to stay in place.
The Baddies Braids
I haven’t tried to french braid my hair in years, but it was so easy and fun after using the ghd Gold Styler to tame my crazy first. All you have to do is separate your hair into two sides and start Dutch braiding it down both sides. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically plaiting your hair but in reverse so the braid sticks out.
Rather than straight over the top, I like to create these on the sides of my head because I find it more flattering. Then you can either leave it tight like I did on the left, or loosen for a ‘Serena Van Der Woodsen’ type braid. I got so many compliments on these around town!
There you go, that’s my top 5 minute hair styles for you to try using the ghd Gold Styler. It’s always fun to play around with hair, especially if your outfit is more subdued like mine was here. Let me know in the comments below if you give them a go!
A special thanks to ghd for gifting me the ghd gold styler to create these looks.
