I have dry skin year round, but especially during the colder months. Lately the temperatures have dropped dramatically and it’s really taking a toll on my skin – particularly my face. That natural summer glow has been replaced by dull, dry skin. I mean, it was actually snowing at home in New Zealand today – um what!? So much for having an Autumn.
Finding moisturising products that actually work is a high priority of mine, so I’ve been reintroducing multi-purpose oils back into my daily routine. Trust me when I say it’s not easy to find a product that works long after you apply it. I find so many products will help for all of 5 minutes then leave my face wanting more. However, I’ve finally found a holy grail multi-purpose oil you guys need to try.
The L’Occitane Shea Fabulous Oil
Worth every dollar, the L’Occitane Shea Fabulous Oil is as fabulous as its name. It smells fantastic, and it is extremely moisturising because of the luxurious shea oil that’s a classic ingredient in a lot of L’Occitane products. I feel like applying it once is enough to keep your skin feeling great for the entire day. It’s heavier compared to some other facial oils I own but in the best possible way for someone with dehydrated skin like mine. I literally want to bathe in it.
If you’re new to using oils as skin care, there are so many different ways of going about it. I’ve gone ahead and listed some of my favourite ways to use them below for you to try. Let me know how you get on if you do give them a go!
How I use L’Occitane Fabulous Oil
As A Face Oil
I use it on my face and it doesn’t break me out at all, and it has totally improved the quality of my dry skin. I love applying this at night after a shower so it can soak in overnight. My skin is left glowing when I wake up and it makes my face much easier to apply make up to. I’m wearing it under minimal make up in the photo above and just look at that natural glow! I love it.
For Shaving
This is my number one tip to try. My legs literally scream “GIVE ME MOISTURE” all year round so shaving never goes smoothly – unless I oil. Yes, oils are my secret weapon for getting that supermodel quality close shave. I actually used to love using Coconut Oil instead of soap to shave, but since I don’t have any right now I’ve been using the L’Occitane oil to moisturise beforehand instead. It’s made such a difference to the quality of my shave that I can never go back.
To Remove Mascara
I take half a pump between my fingers and rub it into stubborn mascara as a pre-wash step. Once it loosens up the mascara it’s so much easier to wash it all off with your usual face wash. Plus, your eyelashes are moisturised all at the same time. Win-win.
Ends Of My Hair
Oil for hair is no secret but this one works as well as any other. I’ve been adding this to the ends of my hair when I hop out of the shower and as long as it’s just a little bit, it does a great job of moisturising without making it greasy.
All Over My Body
I don’t think this takes much explanation but lathering this on your arms and legs 100% works better for me than lotion. Using a combination of both really helps your skin throughout those rough, cold months that can totally take its toll on your limbs. I recommend using this right when you hop out the shower to trap in the moisture. Bye bye scaly skin, see you never again!
By the way, This was not a paid collaboration in any way and all opinions are completely my own – duh. I feel like I have to point this out because of the way the industry works these days. I really do love this product which is why I’m raving about it, but if you don’t have the budget to splurge I recommend giving coconut oil a go!
