Since coming back from Wellington last weekend I’ve been in a bit of a dream. This week I was lucky enough to enjoy parts of American Express Restaurant Month which is definitely worth checking out if you’re in Auckland. I also got to catch up with friends and some much needed Netflix after being overwhelmed with work last week. It’s taken a while since moving back here but I feel like I’m finally settling into a rhythm. And, shock horror, I can picture myself staying here for a while. I still plan on writing up a post on Wellington since I never got around to it (hangovers just aren’t what they used to be) so expect that this week if you’ve been looking for it. Now, let’s get into this weeks highs and lows so I can go make some dinner.
Highs:
- On Wednesday Caitlin and I went to Soul Bar & Bistro for American Express Restaurant Month. For this month they have an awesome $40 that is New Orleans inspired which includes a 2 course meal. The whole meal was delicious and I love when the wine matches the meals perfectly. Honestly, I would love to do this over now thinking about it. Yum.
- Yesterday I went for a mission of a walk that was over 3 hours long with my Aunty exploring parts of Auckland. I literally had no idea where I was most of the time but it was good to get out of the city for a while. The Orakei Basin walk is a must if you’re looking for somewhere quiet but not too far away – super pretty.
- I went out to Manukau yesterday to check out the new Cotton On shop which was insane – it’s actually huge. Cotton On stepped up their game, there were so many pieces I could have taken home (if I wasn’t doing a mammoth walk straight after ^).
- GUYS, Spring is coming. Today was so warm I’ve been beaming all day.
- Plastic Bags have been banned in New Zealand! Wahoo.
- Rediscovered Velvet Teddy lipstick today and I have no idea why I stopped wearing it. It’s the perfect 90’s inspired nude.
- I went to Crave in Kingsland for lunch today and I left full and very satisfied. The food was really good okay? I’m running out of ways to describe food. How the hell do critics do it? Anyway, Jacinda Ardern was there the other day so I’m not making it up.
- Umm if you haven’t watched Naked Attraction you’re in for a ride. It’s like dating meets full on nudity which I definitely didn’t think they could show on TV. Our whole flat watches it on Fridays for laughs. If you want to check it out it’s on TV2 at 9:30 – so strange but funny.
- I’ve been non-stop watching Dark Tourist on Netflix which stars David Farrier (a kiwi, whoop) as he explores the strange since of tourism around the world. It’s so interesting and his sarcastic humour is just too good. Also watched the movie Pain & Gain which is based on an insane true story and was a decent watch.
- Music: Stop Trying To Be God – Travis Scott, Power Trip – J Cole, Karma – Thutmose & Alex Mali, Both Sides – Chantel Jeffries, With Or Without – Anders
Lows:
- It’s not really a big low by any means but it’s just something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I always getting given half of things – like a teaser without any chance of the whole thing. I kind of think I’ve just become content with it which is definitely not what the old Kendra would be like. Or maybe I’ve just become used to not trying in case of failing. Who knows? Adulthood is weird.
- I think I’m getting sick. I think I say this every week. I’m sorry.
- I am still stuck in this uninspired mood which I can’t seem to shake. Honestly I never know how to get myself out of it.
- I’m at this weird in-between size and I keep accidentally buying clothes too big or way too small. I am scared to buy anything online now too.
