The writers block continues, as well as a photography block (is that even a thing?). After too many hours awake, too many things to do and a whole lot of missing equipment, I was stuck for ideas of how to shoot. It’s in these moments when I find simplicity is always a fail-safe, especially shooting a stand out piece like the one above, subtle colours are the best compliment.
I wanted to show you all the gorgeous Bug Bomb Jacket; covered in ladybirds, butterflies and beetles, from COOP by Trelise Cooper. It’s just one of those flamboyant pieces that is still incredibly easy to style – black jeans and boots, and I’m good to go. There are so many fun pieces in the latest collection which I got to see last year at New Zealand Fashion Week, you can find my mini re-cap of the show here.
The colours in these photos are a throwback to my high school obsession with editing photos, pre Instagram. To this day there still remains an entire album on Facebook devoted to overly processed photos, mostly galaxy photos overlaid ones of my friends and I roaming beaches and graffiti walls. I find it interesting that even colour can go out of fashion, just like looking at old photographs, the style is a dead giveaway of the age. I’ll always keep the album up, embarrassing or not because pictures really are worth a thousand words and each have such a unique story to their inception. Also, it’s hilarious to see how hard we tried to look ‘hipster’ and ‘cool’.
