Natural skincare is a topic I’ve never really dived deep into on my blog, but it’s something I try to use where I can in my daily routine. With so many options now on the market to choose from, it’s the perfect time to switch out old favourites for new, cleaner products that will benefit the health of your skin down the line. My new favourite is a New Zealand based brand Okana Skin Care.

As you would know if you have kept up with recent my beauty posts, I have been having trouble with my skin reacting in strange ways to new products lately so I’m very careful about what I introduce to my skin. Okana Skin Care products are 100% natural, vegan and contain no additives, fragrance, alcohol, preservatives or harmful chemicals, making it a low risk, high reward experience. Each of their products contain just a handful of ingredients that are natural, simple and familiar so you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin. I took their Radiant Skin Gift Box for a spin and *spoiler alert* I was stoked to find natural products that do exactly what they promise and nothing else (e.g. bad side effects).

The Radiant Skin Gift Box is the perfect introduction to Okana Skin Care, or would even make a great gift for a loved one. At just $129.95 for six full-sized products, it’s great value for money and includes everything you need – two cleansers, a couple of moisturisers, face scrub and a mist toner. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of these products too, proving that switching to all-natural skincare doesn’t mean you have to compromise on results. Here are my thoughts about each product in the routine order recommended by Okana on their site:

Daily ritual

Apple Juice Foaming Cleanser

This is a beautiful light foam face wash for the first step in your daily routine.  It’s perfect for a light morning clean because of its foam consistency and does a great job of clearing off excess oils built up on your skin overnight. If you’ve been having trouble with your skin now in the warmer weather, I highly recommend you start with a product like this in the morning – it can make all the difference to the texture of your skin.

Cucumber + Lettuce Juice Toner

I love any kind of skin mists after cleansing my skin, or even after applying my make up to give it extra life. This toner is great for this. It applies so light and the cucumber makes it super refreshing. If you want to level up this product – keep it in the fridge so it’s cool first thing in the morning.

Vegetable Garden Day Moisturiser

This is your classic go-to daily moisturiser but it makes a brilliant natural alternative that includes fresh apricot and macadamia oil. I find it creamy enough that my dry skin laps it up in the morning and doesn’t turn into a slippery mess by the afternoon. Yeah, my skin can be pretty temperamental. Safe to say after all my trials and errors, I can vouch this product is really non-offensive and does a brilliant job of prepping my skin for makeup.

Nightly ritual

Mango + Apricot Sorbet Cleanser

If you have read ANY of my recent beauty posts you know I’m obsessed with oil cleansers. It’s the absolute must in my routine (I never skip it) so I was happy to find Okana offered one in this box. I use this to remove stubborn makeup and then follow up for a double cleanse with the Apple Juice Foaming Cleanser since it’s such a light face wash. Both together leave my skin supple, hydrated and deeply cleaned.

For a double cleanse.

Bamboo Beads Face Scrub

If I’m being honest this was probably my least favourite product of the lot, but that’s purely because I’m fussy with physical exfoliators and rarely use them. What I do love about this product is that the scrub formula is again, super hydrating, so it doesn’t end up being too harsh on your face. If you are partial to a good face scrub, this could be the one for you.

Cucumber + Lettuce Juice Toner

More mist, always. Toner is always great prep for your moisturiser too.

Berry Mix Night Moisturiser

Another great moisturiser and the finish to this daily routine. This one is a beautiful shade of berry (extremely satisfying on the eyes) and it’s rich to keep your skin hydrated overnight. I really lather my face with this one and never feel guilty for indulging it in since it’s so inexpensive. An absolute winning product in my book.
