Yesterday marks the first day of Autumn here in New Zealand and so I thought it was time I switched up my usual makeup. It’s been too long since I have played around with new products. Call it “Covid Block” but I honestly haven’t felt like putting in any effort when it comes to my face. I’m so rusty. I usually slap on the same 4 products before getting bored and heading out the door. Picture: the makeup equivalent of sweatpants. This year I want to get back into trying new looks because I miss how fun I found the preparation process. Plus, it means buying fewer clothes for once in my life.
I call this look my autumnal “I like brown a little too much” 90’s monotone. I played around with some new favourite products of mine, including the Tom Ford Quad Honeymoon, and the ONE/SIZE new collection. This eyeshadow palette is an absolute must. Honestly, I think I’m yet to find a Tom Ford product I don’t love – I mean, look at it!! Next time I’m going to play around with the copper shades since they’re stunning.
On My Face
Tom Ford Eye Colour Quad in Honeymoon
ONE/SIZE Ultimate Blurring Setting Powder
ONE/SIZE Point Made Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Busty Brown
Tarte Sea Color Splash Lipstick in Beach Babe
Tom Ford Cheek Color in Love Lust
Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer Park Ave Princess
Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Blonde
That goes for ONE/SIZE too. I think I have to call it and say that this eyeliner is hands down the best dark brown I’ve used. Creamy, pigmented, and it’s bloody hard to get off. AKA it is not a product for the indecisive. It’s great for the waterline, but I’ve also seen people used it smoked out for winged liner. I have been dousing myself in the translucent powder too – it’s perfect as a finishing touch. Lightweight and doesn’t change your finished look, apart from calming down the shine.
Last but not least, I just bought the M.A.C lip liner in Strip Down that honestly has exceeded my expectations. I don’t own many lipsticks or liners and so that’s the only make up ‘genre’ I’ve allowed into my budget. I blended it into the Tarte Lipstick in Beach Babe for the perfect circa 90’s muted brown combination. I’ve been watching far to much MAFS and it’s a look that Martha Kalifatidis wears – very Kardashian like. As you can tell, I’m pretty happy with my new routine.
