Mood boards have always been my go-to when I feel uninspired, which I have been ever since I came back from Wellington. If you’ve been following me for a while now you’ll know this happens every now and again. Kind of like a visual writing block. So here’s a little mid-week inspiration for you and fingers crossed my blogging-block will be gone by the weekend.
Back when I used to work for a fashion label it felt like we were making new mood boards every week. They’re so good to collate ideas and remember which direction you want to be heading in – even if it’s just for your blog. It’s always great to have something to refer back to when you’re overloaded with visuals. Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr. It’s endless. You can get lost it in for hours but lose your sense of style in the process.
Lately I’ve been moving away from Instagram as much as possible because I find it a creativity killer in this way. Between everyone posing the same, using the same filter on every photo and writing the same generic captions, there’s no real personality shared. Or even worse, everyone hops on the bandwagon of some ‘epiphany’ they’ve had like “you can sit with us” instead of you can’t. Honestly, who isn’t sick of that argument? I’m all for bringing people together but with original ideas. I feel like I’ve read that article 100 times over. Are we becoming a generation of Buzzfeed titles? I fucking hope not.
Incase you’ve been wondering this is why I’ve been on Instagram a lot less. I like being able to pop in, post and share my content without getting lost others. Comparison is a killer after all. I know I’ll be back eventually, sass and all – I just need a break. Check out my Pinterest and Tumblr though if you’re looking for good imagery. I’ve been super active on them again and it’s so satisfying.
